What is Treasure Hunter?

Treasure Hunter is a minigame – playable from within RuneScape - where players use Keys to claim in-game items as prizes. These range from useful resources to rare weapons and exclusive gear.

Playing Treasure Hunter is simple – click the treasure chest icon that pops up when you log in. If you've not played before, just follow the on-screen guide.

Everyone gets at least one Key per day, and RuneScape members get two. You can earn more Keys while playing the game, or stock up by redeeming Bonds.

If you'd like more, you can also buy Keys on the website, or by clicking 'Buy Keys' within the Treasure Hunter interface in-game.

We’re preparing to announce the winner of Player Gallery 51, but the Gallery will reopen its doors this month, being launched next week with a spring feel – keep your eyes peeled on our Events & Competitions forum. The winner of our 50th Gallery themed around hearts, was Dewydd with the piece titled "Purrfect Couple".

BY JENNA PITCHER: Star Citizen, the massive spaceflight simulator from Wing Commander series creator Chris Roberts breezed past a $75 million fundraising milestone this week, extending the record it set last year as the most successful crowdfunding project ever.

“It's a little surreal. I didn't even think that 10 would be possible,” Roberts told IGN. “I'm always amazed. If you came up to me and said that we would be at $75 million when I started October 2012, I would be absolutely nuts.

“I used to have some arguments internally where the head of marketing was like ‘Well, we'll see if we can do 20 [million]’ and I was like, ‘Ahh, there's no way we're doing 20.’ So, it has been pretty awesome.”

When Roberts first launched the project in October 2012, he hoped to raise between $2 million to $4 million to bring on angel investors to help fund the game. As the game is successfully raising funds independently, the project is liberated from bringing on private investors, allowing the developer to proceed with the game’s production as it sees fit.

“I'm about trying to make the best game possible so I find it quite liberating to be able, in the situation we have now, where we enough money to build this thing to a level where you can only dream of,” he said. “So I feel very lucky and humbled and happy and I'm having a lot of fun making the game.”
